The sanded, non-calibrated surface should be checked and lightly prepared by your carpenter before laminate, veneer, or polish application, as thickness may vary slightly across the sheet. 1) What is the difference between MR grade and BWR/BWP grade plywood — which should I use for my project?

MR (Moisture Resistant) grade plywood is designed for interior applications where the wood will not be exposed to direct water, prolonged moisture, or outdoor conditions. It is suitable for furniture, wall panelling, false ceilings, and interior joinery in dry indoor environments. BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) or BWP (Boiling Water Proof) grades are required for areas with direct water exposure — such as kitchen sink cabinets, bathroom vanities, or any outdoor application. For standard interior furniture and modular kitchens away from water contact, MR grade is the correct and cost-effective choice.

2) Which thickness should I choose for wardrobe carcasses and kitchen cabinets?

18mm is the standard thickness for wardrobe and kitchen cabinet carcasses — sides, tops, and bottoms — where structural rigidity and screw-holding strength under load are required. 12mm is commonly used for internal shelves and dividers inside cabinets where the load is lower. 6mm or 8mm is used for back panels of cabinets and drawer bottoms where structural loading is minimal.
