- Fixing: Use waterproof adhesives and stainless steel fasteners in wet areas
1) What is Exterior Grade MDF?
It is moisture-resistant MDF made for wet areas and covered exterior use. It handles humidity, steam and splashes better than interior MDF, provided it is properly finished and sealed.
2) Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, for covered or semi-exposed areas such as verandas and shaded outdoor furniture, with all faces and edges sealed. It is not made for direct, prolonged rain or standing water, which can cause bubbling over time. For fully exposed structures, use Action Tesa Boilo (boiling water proof) instead.
3) What is the difference between Interior and Exterior MDF?
Exterior MDF has better moisture resistance for wet areas and covered outdoor use, while Interior MDF is for dry indoor spaces. Exterior MDF costs more but lasts longer in moisture-prone areas.
4) Can I use it for bathroom cabinets?
Yes. It is well suited to bathroom vanities and storage exposed to steam and humidity, as long as all edges are sealed and the surfaces are finished.
5) Does Exterior MDF need finishing?
Yes. All faces and cut edges must be sealed with waterproof paint, PU coating or sealer. Unsealed edges are the most common cause of swelling.
6) How do I identify genuine Action Tesa MDF?
Genuine Action Tesa MDF carries brand markings and comes with proper documentation.
