Asian Paints SmartCare Crack Seal is a ready-to-use crack filling compound reinforced with fibre glass, for sealing cracks up to 3 mm wide on interior and exterior walls before painting. Cracks are the most common reason a paint job fails early: paint over an unfilled crack and it reappears within a season, often wider because water has got in behind it. Ordinary filler is rigid and cracks again along the same line as the wall moves; the glass fibres hold the filled joint together through that movement. There is no mixing, no ratio and no pot life — open the pack and apply.

How to Fill a Crack Properly

Open the Crack: Open it out slightly with a scraper or blade so the filler has something to key into — a hairline surface crack filled without opening it rarely holds
Clean: Remove all loose material, dust and flaking paint from inside and around the crack, and make sure the surface is dry
Fill: Press the compound firmly in so it fills the full depth, not just the surface, then level it flush with the wall
Second Layer: A 2-coat system is recommended. Wait 4 to 6 hours before applying a second levelling layer
Cure: Allow a minimum of 24 hours to cure fully before sanding or painting. Sanding or painting at about 6 hours traps moisture and makes the paint bubble
Finish: Sand smooth if needed, then prime and paint over the repair

Cracks wider than 3 mm need polymer-modified cement mortar or a specialised sealant. If a crack keeps returning, or runs diagonally across a structural element, stop and have it assessed — a persistent structural crack needs a different remedy, not more filler.
